~ Breaking Dawn 2 Twilight Goodies

DSCN0514_edited-2

{trunk full of Twi-goodies}

It has been a great few years with the Twilight Saga but alas, all good things do come to an end.  I went to see Breaking Dawn 2 with three of my peeps from MILCON.  I was sick as a dog but I still went to share the goodies I put together for our girls day and enjoy the movie. =)  The goody bag had a couple of vampire-themed items and Hershey’s kisses.  I made name tag/book marks to add to the larger gift bags which also held a Twilight-themed travel mug and hot chocolate mix.  I couldn’t find any Breaking Dawn bags but the Eclipse ones served the purpose just fine.

~ Beginning of the End

If you’ve kept up with me these last couple of years you know I have been on a bit of a Twilight Saga bender.  All good things must come to an end…but we still have Breaking Dawn 2 to watch and then I’ll be done.  Really, I’ll be done! =)  It is still a few months until November so here you go, my latest digi-layout of the latest BD2 posters I made for the ladies in Twilight Sorority.  Yes, I couldn’t resist.

~ Fiskateer Secret Agent Challenge – Fall Gatherings Border Punch

P.S.  The winner of my Twilight Bracelet blog contest is Anna Hong!  Congrats, lady!  I will hold another contest soon so stay tuned, Twilight lovers!

~ Happy Columbus Day, Dragonscale and a Twilight Bracelet Giveaway!

One of the perks of being a Federal employee is the holidays.  Oh, how I love a day off!  For those of you out there enjoying a Monday off, have fun because the work week starts all over again tomorrow! =)

I worked on a few projects this week, one of which I can’t show until the Fiskateers site puts it up but it will be up soon enough!  The one I can share is a chainmaille project – dragonscale cuff in aluminum with anodized aluminum inner rings in irridescent gunmetal and blue.  I’ll have a few autumn/Halloween/Twilight projects to come in the coming weeks, so come back a visit a little later.

P.S.  For those of you who want to get in on the Twilight Sorority custom bracelet giveaway — Just go to any of the Twilight posts on this blog and leave a comment.  Comment to your heart’s content but only one entry per person.  The contest will close on Thursday and I will announce the winner on Friday.  The prize is a custom Twilight charm bracelet with your choice of “team”.  Good luck and thanks!

~ Happy Weekend and Two More Bracelets Left!

Happy weekend, all!  The weather is starting to cool down here and that means Fall Frolic!  Lots of pictures to be taken in the fall months with our family.   This area is great for catching the changing colors, pumpkin patches and outdoor fun.  I’ll be sure to post pictures as I take them.

Two more bracelets left – both with round charms.  The most recent bracelets made are both Team Edward with square charms.  If you would like to take advantage of one of the two remaining bracelets, let me know.  Click here for the details.  Hurry!  Once these bracelets are gone, they’re gone!

~ Custom Twilight Charm Bracelets

My last two Twilight-themed bracelets sold so quickly I decided to make more charms (squares and rounds) and beaded embellishments for five more custom bracelets.

Each bracelet comes with:

  • Four square or round double-sided gloss-finish charms (one side as shown above with book covers, the other side is your choice of “team” or desired photos).  See photo below of the latest Team Jasper custom bracelet for an idea of the finished product.
  • Ten beaded embellishments (Czech glass, Millefiori, semi-precious Jasper, Bamboo coral, shell, bead caps, spacers, headpins)
  • Toggle closure chain (standard fits 7″-7.5″ wrist, larger size chain fits up to 8″ wrist)

Cost for each bracelet is $30 ($25 bracelet, $5 USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate).  Insurance is customer-optional for additional $1.80 (protects you in case package is lost or damaged in transit).  Overseas orders will incur additional shipping and will be calculated at time of order.  Orders will be mailed within a week of payment receipt. Payment accepted via PayPal.

Ready to order?  Send me an email (leasanders@yahoo.com) with the following info:

  • Name and address where you want your bracelet to be mailed
  • Which “team” or other photos you want on the backside of the charms
  • Choice of standard or larger chain
  • Insurance or no insurance option
  • Your PayPal email address so that I can send you an invoice for payment

DON’T WAIT!  Bracelet price will go up to $35 ($30 bracelet, $5 shipping) in November!

~ Another Year Older and a Team Edward Bracelet

Happy birthday to my baby girl, Miranda.  Goofy girl couldn’t figure out which face to do in pictures so I captured several and made a colorful combo.

Latest Team Edward custom order finished this morning.  Various beads included – Czech glass, semi-precious Jasper, Bamboo Coral and shell.

Still one more bracelet available.  If you’re interested, email me at leasanders@yahoo.com.  Additional details in the post below this one.  Thanks!

~ Team Jasper Bracelet

I had a lot of down time during Hurricane Irene to complete a custom Team Jasper bracelet.  This was one of the prizes for my recent Breaking Dawn Quotes Contest.  The now discontinued rectangular charms by 7Gypsies are covered on both sides (book covers and Jasper) and brushed with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium in Gloss.  Black Millefiore, Czech glass and jet beads finish out the bracelet with red anodized aluminum jump rings, bead spacers and caps.

Speaking of beads, I had quite a bit of down time that I crafted two other bracelets with more elaborate bead dangles with book cover charms (just like the ones above).  NOTE:  This is one of those rare opportunities where I am going to sell the finished product as I normally don’t sell my work.  You get to choose your “team” or whatever you want to put on the backs of the four rectangular charms.  Cost will be $30 each which includes the shipping.  Payment accepted by PayPal only.  If you would like to purchase one of these “made during Hurricane Irene” Twilight-themed bracelets, please let me know ASAP.  Email me at leasanders@yahoo.com.   Thanks!

Thanks to all who participated in my Breaking Dawn Quotes Contest!  The three winners are listed below.  Congratulations, Twi-hards!

Email me soonest with your names and addresses so that I can drop your prizes in the mail.  Thanks for playing!

~ Mixed Media Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn Canvas Project

Okay, Twilight fans, here is my latest project incorporating the techniques I learned at a mixed media paint course I attended a week ago with ShaDeeLa.  The project started out as a plain white 8×10 canvas, a few pieces of thick chipboard, acrylic paint, alcohol ink, glimmer mist, patterned paper, ribbon and gems.

Step 1 – I first painted using brown, red and black acrylic paints on the canvas, followed silver glimmer mist.  After letting this dry I added red and black alcohol inks that I let drip and dry-brushed across the canvas.  I set this aside overnight to dry completely.

Step 2 – Using rubber stamps and white acrylic paint, I stamped a random design along the edges of the canvas.  The paint reacted with the alcohol inks from the night before, making pinky streaks where the paint touched the ink.  Using a red chalk ink pad, silver acrylic paint and black Staz-on, I distressed the scrolled chipboard piece.  With black crackle paint, I painted a medium layer onto the frame.  I set this aside to dry overnight.

Step 3 – Added a strip of tissue tape to the bottom of the canvas.  After Photoshopping a photo I scanned from the latest Entertainment Weekly, I printed and attached with a clear transparency to the crackled frame with pop-up foam tape.  Patterned paper was cut and inked and adhered to the scrolled chipboard.  Both of the chipboard pieces were then attached to the canvas using pop-up foam tape.

Step 4 – Flowers were diecut from patterned paper, formed and glue-gunned with gems to the project.  Ribbon was added to the edge of the frame and a piece tied to the bottom of the scrolled chipboard.  A sparkly “love” sticker was the last addition.  This project took about four days from start to finish.

~ MIA! Miranda Chronicles and COAATF Nom

Hi, all!  It has been a busy few months and I’ve seriously neglected my blog.  I’ve got plenty to post but for now I’d like to share a couple of quick digi layouts I made of my daughter’s trips to the salon to ready herself for her senior photo session.  Digi is not my usual niche so  I’ll eventually scrap the photos in a BIA project to document the “Chronicles of Miranda” or some other crazy title that I need to figure out. =)

Late-breaking new news – I’ve been told that I am a finalist for the Confessions of an Adult Twilight Fan “Best Craftsperson” category.  Hooray! Voting will start July 29 and run for a couple of weeks.  As soon as I have the details on how to vote, I will post again here and on Facebook.  I will also update my “Twilight sidebar” to update with my latest projects from the last few months.

~ Twilight Weekend!

Omigosh–this past weekend was a total blast!  With my daughter in tow, we met for the second annual Official Twilight Convention in Arlington, VA, with old and new members of Twilight Sorority.  Our experience this year was even greater than last year’s!  Wow, where do I start?  Miranda, I, and several members of the group chose to go VIP (which is awesome and the only way to go).  We sat closer to the stage and got some great photos throughout the event.  Miranda mustered enough moxy to ask actor Bronson Pelletier to prom and he tweeted it!  Karaoke with Bronson Pelletier was something to remember when our group sang Blondie’s One Way or Another.  If felt like one of those surreal “What happens in Las Vegas…” moments (more like “What happens in Arlington at the Twilight Convention…).  Our group also went up earlier for another song, Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive.  Though I didn’t win the centerpiece contest this year, I was able to donate my project for charity.  Thanks to actor Bill Tangradi for talking with me at length about turning my loss into good karma and suggesting the charity donation.  The three pieces of my centerpieces earned $320 for Chaske Spencer‘s and Charlie Bewley‘s charities (Be the Shift, Run for Life).   Oh, major news–one of our new members is a guy! =)  Sweet Henry came to the convention alone but I wouldn’t have any of that.  We adopted him right away.  We’re an equal opportunity kinds of gals!

Our group is famous now!  Twilight Sorority was mentioned in the Washington Post (thanks to our awesome new member, Henry) and photos of Melisa and I were included in the Clarendon-Courthouse-Rosslyn Patch from the banner/photo auction.

Slideshows of my photos from the convention are below – If at any time you want to view the non-moving versions, click on View All Images under each strip.

~ Twilight Treats for the April Twilight Convention

In preparation for the April Twilight Convention in Arlington, I made goody bags for the ladies in the Facebook site called Twilight Sorority.  Each goody bag contains Eclipse and fang-themed chocolate from Candy Warehouse as well as beautiful new buttons pressed by Emily Adams.  Each topper was border punched, layered on glittered cardstock and tied with a ribbon.  As an inside joke, I made two special mirrors for Lina and Emily, the two ladies who started the original FB site.  I’m currently putting the finishing touches on my event/autograph book.  Come back next month to see the completed project.

~ Zutter 11 for ’11 Blog Hop

Welcome to the “Twilight Zister” leg of the Zutter Blog hop!

What are your scrapping plans for 2011?  I intend to scrap my photos more often in 2011.  Last year I scrapped specific occasions but this year I think I’ll try to group events by month and scrap them together in one book using my trusty Bind-it-All, of course!  Leave me a comment to let me know what you’re going to try to do differently with your projects this year for a chance to be picked randomly for a Zutter supply pack of “o-wires, covers, Cover-Alls and surprises.

For today’s blog hop, I’m sharing a new Team Jacob-themed project I made for the Twilight Convention in Arlington, April 2011.  This project was really a snap to do as I kept the embellishment to a very bare minimum and the Cover-All gave the project a more bookish-feel.  The intention is to provide a place for the autographs my daughter will collect from the convention stars.  Right now the inside is empty but it will fill up with pictures and memories from the event.  See list of supplies at the bottom of this post.

Thanks so much for your visit!  Please visit my Zisters from January 5-12 for one of 11 chances to win a Zutter prize.

~ Goofing off at the FYE Twilight Eclipse DVD Release Party

My daughter and I (for some portion of time, my buddy Maureen) dutifully went to the FYE at Fair Oaks to attend the midnight DVD release party for Eclipse.  The crowd was a smaller this year.  Not sure if it was lack of advertising or if it was just too cold and too late to attend, but we were there in force.  I didn’t win big like I did last year on trivia – the questions were from the book and I only really know Twilight from the movies, but Miranda won a $10 FYE gift card.  Our location screened the movie while we waited for midnight but in the meanwhile, Miranda and I goofed off with the life-sized cardboard posters (with permission from the store, of course!) outside FYE.

After midnight, we spent the next hour scouring the local McDonald’s locations for Happy Meal Hello Kitty watches!  We were successful and found all seven!  After just a few hours of sleep, we went to Target and picked up the collector’s edition of Eclipse, too.  Needless to say, we were tired mommy and daughter by the end of the day.  The Eclipse release has renewed my excitement for Twilight once again.  On the convention front, we’re already purchased our Gold Passes and look forward to the guest list and activities.  More to post on this later.

 =====================

On the chainmaille front, the projects below are my latest.  They were inspired from Rebecca Mojica’s new book “CHAINED“.  Absolutely great book filled with awesome projects.  Get your autographed copy from Blue Buddha Boutique.

~ Jewelry Gifts (Chainmaille, Twilight and Rintoo)

Holiday gift-making is in full swing at the Sanders house.  Here are a few more jewelry pieces I made the last few weeks.  The chainmaille bracelets are for my brother and sis-in-law, the Rintoo necklace is for my oldest niece and the Twilight bracelets are a prize for a contest I hosted on the Twilight Sorority Facebook site.  Congratulations to Jenny for winning the contest!

~ Window art, chainmaille and Kazuri

I’ve been busy with various projects these last few weeks.  Chainmailling has been my active obsession for at least a month now and I discovered Kazuri beads just last week.  Today we visited an old gristmill that is hosting an art show.  The family took an interest in the actual paintings and sculptures while I paid more attention to the “window dressing” in the mill.  Each window or available ledge was decorated with fall gourds, chestnuts and a green fruit/veggie (not sure what it is — if you know, post here and tell me!)   On the Twilight front, I’d been stalking the Twilight Convention site for a while now to see when tickets would be sold.  Low and behold, I found tickets on sale Thursday night.  I promptly purchased my Gold Packages on Friday morning! =)  Great seats this time.

 {top – Twilight themed, beaded 6-in-1; bottom left – 8-in-1; bottom right – fall themed 6-in-1}

~ Twilight-themed Stair Step Cards

Part of the goody packages I sent to my Twi Sisters included handmade cards with their names on them.  Here are a few pics of the cards.  On other Twilight news, number of times I’ve seen Eclipse as of this morning = 22! =)  I sooooo can’t wait until the Eclipse DVD release party.  Not sure if Hot Topic will have one as they didn’t for New Moon but FYE was a great substitute.

I really love these stair step cards.  I’m developing a Halloween card class for work that will use this card type.  Come back later to see the finished sample. =)

Stuff:  cardstock – Stampin’ Up!; patterned paper – Autumn Leaves; flowers – Prima; gems – Doodlebug

~ Team Jacob Necklace and Twilight-themed 16 Month Calendars

How many times have you seen Eclipse?  As of yesterday, I’ve seen it 19 times.  Yes, a Twi-addict, for sure.  Here are my latest Twi projects — 16 month calendars I made as consolation prizes for a contest I hosted on Facebook and a Team Jacob necklace.

I really like how the necklace charm came out.  I was tentative at first as I used a variety of items that I hadn’t used together before (deep-set charm, Tim Holtz acrylic pieces, Glossy Accents and Jolee’s heat-set crystals).

~ Team Edward, Team Jacob & Team Emmett

It’s been a while since my last Twilight-themed project.  With the release of Eclipse, I’ve been inspired anew!  {{{Speaking of Eclipse, 11 viewings and counting!}}}  I found out from my visit to Las Vegas that my nieces are also fans of Twilight, a couple of little Edward fans and one Emmett fan.  Here are my latest pieces.  All of the pieces for the Jacob and Emmett necklaces can be found at Michael’s.  I picked up the Edward pieces at a cute little scrapbook store in San Diego called Paper Tales back in April while I was on business travel.  Please leave me a comment if you’ve come by for a visit and tell me whose Team you’re on!

Team Jacob (front & back)

{embellishment detail and a saying my daughter and I picked up from Taylor Lautner’s SNL skit}

 Team Emmett (front and back)

Team Edward – Sorry about the poor photos of the Edward charms.  The photos are covered with magnifying glass pebbles that are very difficult to photograph!

Stuff:  Jacob & Emmett – Tim Holtz (gears, chain, type charm), Inkssentials (frames, glass), Jolees (beads); Edward – Doodlebug (gems), Paper Tales (frame, glass pebble)

~ New Eclipse Pix & Bracelet

Found this one on TwilightersAnonymous.com!  I will eventually start making my usual BIA minibooks but for now I’m basking in the convention weekend that was all Twilight, 24 hours a day.  Pictures below are of the last bracelet I made (for myself for a change) that I wore to the convention this weekend.  Sorry for the poor pix, I photographed the bracelet in the hotel on the windowsill.
