We were surprised to find out last week that our newest analyst was leaving us this week. To help make her farewell luncheon a little more special, I made candy boxes to put at each place setting at the restaurant. She loves purple so I made purple tags using twine from The Twinery – so cute!

This weekend I made a set of six cards for a co-worker as part of a going away present. She expressed interest in the color orange at the last card class I taught at work so there is a bit of orange in both the cards and the envelopes. Here are the photos from my first class of the year! Valentine’s Day tends to be a big draw for my office!
I kept the design of the card simple but provided a lot of paper and embellishment options for each of the participants to design their own unique projects. To ensure that the attention would be paid to putting the projects together instead of the mechanics of prepping the different pieces, I pre-cut/creased all of the paper and pre-assembled ribbon bundles.

Just finished making a sample card for my first class at work since moving to our newly renovated spaces. It will be nice to teach another class as it has been months since the last one! I got the idea for this card from a similar one I saw at Queen’s Ink at Savage Mill. This is also my first project using Timeless Twine product. So cute!

October marks the beginning of a great season in Northern VA. The leaves change color, the weather is a little cooler and there are so many autumn activities to do. Here are a couple of Bind-it-All books I made for my hubby’s cousins’ families. They were a big hit! I was so inspired by our visit with the cousins that I plan to make each family calendar gifts for the holidays.

It was high time that I got to crafting something that wasn’t related to a retirement or farewell luncheon. I’ve probably made four of “those” types of books in a span of just a few months. Enough of the departing already! So, here is a happy book — I took scalloped chipboard pages, lopped off one of the sides to make an even edge and turned them into a cute little book. Instead of doing the more work-intensive covering and sanding of pages, I opted for painting the chipboard and covering with two different sizes of patterned paper circles.

The snow finally stopped falling late last night and what was waiting for us in the morning was a huge blanket of snow. By our measurements, we had 23 inches yesterday. I went out this morning and took some pictures of the neighborhood. Even with some of the neigbhors shovelling, it was really still and quiet. Strange how snow casts a lot of blue hue in photos. Very hard to adjust for that much blue, even with a snow setting on the camera.

Stampin’ Up! has cute little containers and a coordinating stamp set to make these cute little treats. I wish the treat cups were a tad bigger as they don’t hold a lot of candy. On second thought, maybe that’s a good thing! The cups are attached to pieces of patterned paper and secured with staples. These ones are for my son’s 6th grade class.

I have a bridal shower to go to this weekend and I wanted to give my friend, Monja, something completely different than the usual housewares gifts people usually give at showers. In addition to the Victoria’s Secret gift card I got her, I made this 8″ x 10″ book with simple patterned paper-covered pages for her to save some of her pre-wedding memories.

This little book is probably the littlest one I’ve ever made. It measures about 3 1/2″ square. I might actually make more of these to give to my hubby’s family members at a family reunion next month. Clear Scraps has the cutest little kits now with chipboard and acrylic pieces. I sandwiched the tabbed chipboard pieces with matching acrylic covers. I printed the photos in wallet size and trimmed them just a bit.

Just another week ’til the Twilight DVD comes out! AAAAAAHHHH! I’m so excited I can’t stand it. Even my 10 year old son is looking forward to the Hot Topic DVD release party next Friday. (So excited!)
Alrighty, for the more unsavory news–I need to have my gallbladder taken out. I didn’t realize the various pains I had been experiencing for months now were all related to gallstones in my gallbladder. Geez. Anyway, I’ll post something again about it after I meet with the surgeon next week.

This week is going to be a busy one at work! I have three social events to attend in a row – Monday (farewell luncheon), Tuesday (command party ALL DAY–and I mean–ALL DAY) and Wednesday’s event is the one I organized for my directorate. Here is a picture of the pillow boxes I put together for my co-workers. I’ll put these at the place settings with a lottery scratch-off ticket tucked under the ribbon. =) The picture below it is another set of treats for my son’s classroom before they go on winter break.
BLOG BREAK! I’m going to be on a blog break starting next weekend until the new year. I will be visiting my parents and brothers’ families in Las Vegas for Christmas.
