~ “Made with Scraps” BIA Minibook

While I was thinning out my collection of paper this weekend to give to a friend, I had amassed a pile of scraps, not worthy enough of sharing in current-state.   I saw a lot of similarities in the colors and patterns.  Instead of throwing the scraps away, I challenged myself to create one project using the bits of paper – married similar styles of different manufacturers – to make this little minibook.

BIA 12 Days of Christmas – Calendar

For more details on this challenge or if you’d like to join the Zutter Zisters Design Team and OZZers, swing by www.zutterzisters.ning.com.  We’ll be giving away prizes for each day featured in our Twelve Days of Christmas Challenge.

~ Thank you, Cosmo Cricket!

Julie Comstock is truly a generous lady!  I made the Top 15 cut for the Cosmo Cricket Design Team but failed to place in the final team.  She sent me the nicest email letting me know that there wasn’t room for me this year on the team and then sent me these great CHA Summer goodies.  I found them waiting for me at my door when I got back from getting the staples taken out of my knee from the surgery a few weeks ago.  (Yeah, it was an owie!)  I look forward to making some great projects soon.

Now look what I found at Michael’s today–a new SEI line that you won’t find yet on the SEI site — Moravia.  I was totally surprised that the Michael’s had it in advance of the CHA show.  Now all I need to do is get my hands on some embellishments.  =)

~ Valentine’s “Double Door” BIA Book and Surgery Break

valentines-009

I really love how this project turned out!  I’m not a big Valentine’s fan (Halloween/Autumn is my favorite time of year) but there is something to be said about rich browns, reds and pinks in a romantic-themed project.  This one is a “double door” project with two smaller clipboard wood panels on top of a larger base (see below).  I debated the type of closure I would use to keep the “doors” closed.  I borrowed an office idea and made a “guardmail” envelope closure (those of you who work in the government know what I’m talking about) using cardstock, velvet,  rivets and string.  There are a couple of patterned paper-covered acrylic pages inside and pockets with tags inside the smaller “door” panels.

On more pressing news, I will be out-of-pocket crafting-wise for a couple of weeks.  I am scheduled for surgery this Thursday to remove a mass between my breast and chest wall.  I am so not looking forward to getting cut but it is better to get the mass completely removed than to wonder if it is cancerous.  I hope to be up and running with more projects in February.

Stuff: Zutter/BIA – clipboard wood covers, o-wires, rivets; SEI – paper collection, stickers, rub-ons, cardstock, velvet paper; Stampin Up! – ink, flowers, hat pin, pearls, clear beads, crystal brads; AccuCut – acrylic; lace and crochet string; Adirondack – acrylic paint

~ Monkey Fun

Here is a small project I made for my daughter’s welcoming home.  She’s coming home this week from her summer vacation with my parents in Las Vegas.  She had asked me to make a mini album for her with these monkey papers a while back and I just got around to making it for her.

I kept the book simple in design so that my daughter can easily add photos or other keepsakes to it without much fuss.

Stuff:  patterned paper – Reminisce; cardstock – Bazzill; wire binding – Bind-it-All; ribbon – American Crafts, SEI and Wal-Mart, extra-large eyelets – We R Memory Keepers; alphabet stickers – Lil’ Davis Designs and American Crafts

~ LYB BIA Minibook

Okay, no more acronyms (did I think I was at work?)  Here is my Little Yellow Bicycle & Bind-it-All project using a variety of BIA materials — Zutter Clip-Board Wood and Perfect Closures.  This was my first time using the clip-board wood and boy was I apprehensive.  I didn’t think the BIA would cut its way through but it did and super-easy.  If you look closely, you can see the embossed velvet that I created with one of my FIskars embossing border punches.  I am so enamored of the colors in the Vita Bella paper collection (I guess I need to go back to my local scrapbook store and buy more)!

Of course, this project will end up in the hands of one of my family members as a gift.  Just need to fill it with pictures or gift it as an album for them to fill.

Here are a few close-ups of the binding and selected pages.

Stuff:  Clip-board Wood Cover, Perfect Closures, wire ring – Bind-it-All/Zutter; paper collection, ribbons, glitter die-cut stickers, chipboard embellishments, rub-ons – Little Yellow Bicycle; velvet – SEI; cardstock – Stampin’ Up!; extra large eyelets – We R Memory Keepers

~ Bugs & Flowers Minibook

Flowers and cute bugs are a great inspiration!  I made this project while I was home with sick kiddies yesterday.  (Today, I’m not feeling that great–I guess I caught my kids’ “bugs”.)  I took a pressboard occasion planner from Kaiser Craft and turned it into a minibook covered in flowers, bugs, ribbon and bling!  Couldn’t make up my mind which collection I was going to use, so I married both SEI Doodley-Do Girl and Doodley-Do Boy sets of patterned papers, stickers and tags and threw in the Fiskars Threading Water punch for design.
