~ Baby Shower Book & Goody Bags

Here is my second in a series of Bind-it-All minibooks made from patterned paper scraps.  This project is a baby shower book for well-wishers to add their happy greetings.

I also made goody bags for all 35 of my co-workers plus a few extra for Katie’s family.  See more photos of both projects in the slideshow below.

~ Greeting Card Gift Set & Minibook Teaser

This weekend I made a set of six cards for a co-worker as part of a going away present.  She expressed interest in the color orange at the last card class I taught at work so there is a bit of orange in both the cards and the envelopes.  I also made a small pockets and tags Bind-it-All minibook that I’ll show a sneak peek of below.  Please come back another day to see a full post on the minibook sometime next month or so. =)

~ Easy Holiday Gifts

I was a busy bee making calendars for my co-workers and teaching three days of classes at work this month.

The calendars above are for the ladies who sit in my row of cubbies who work in other branches.  To make them personalized, I added initials from their first names (Danielle, Ginny, Traci) to the acrylic covers.  Come back next month to see more calendar photos from my January Bind-it-All projects.

On the “teach class at work during lunchtime front” I was growing weary of teaching cards the last few months so I decided to do something different – embellished gift bags filled with candy.  Everything on the white bag was made in class (wreath, ribbon, embossed background, etc.)

Calendar Supplies – Zutter – o-wire; Fancy Pants – pattered paper; AccuCut – acrylic; Sticko – foam alpha letters; Prima – flowers; medium weight chipboard; ribbon

Embellished Gift Bag Supplies – Stampin’ Up! – cardstock, gingham ribbon; Crate Paper – patterned paper;  gift bag, ribbon, organdy circles, bells

~ November Card Project – Christmas Tree Card

Here is my latest card sample for next week’s card class at work.  I created the dimensional tree by punching three trees, creasing them down the middles and adhering them together.  I recommend using the Xyron to add adhesive to the punches.  My earlier card sample had two trees with five attached punches but I found that it made the card clunky and harder to put into an envelope intact.

Supplies –

  • Stampin’ Up! – cardstock
  • Little Yellow Bicycle – patterned paper
  • Paper Source – ribbon
  • Crate Paper – cardstock sticker
  • Queen & Company – bling

~ I love Halloween!

October marks the beginning of a great season in Northern VA.  The leaves change color, the weather is a little cooler and there are so many autumn activities to do.  Here are a couple of Bind-it-All books I made for my hubby’s cousins’ families.  They were a big hit!  I was so inspired by our visit with the cousins that I plan to make each family calendar gifts for the holidays.

Happy Halloween

  • Zutter – 1 1/4″ black o-wire
  • Teresa Collins – chipboard covers
  • K&Company – patterned paper, embossed stickers, layered stickers
  • Doodlebug – gems
  • ribbon

Have a Haunted Halloween

  • Zutter – 1 1/4″ black o-wire
  • 7Gypsies – 8” chipboard pages
  • Recollections – patterned paper, layered stickers, epoxy stickers
  • Adirondack – acrylic paint
  • Prima  – bling
  • Stampin’ Up – cardstock
  • ribbon

~ Twilight-themed Stair Step Cards

Part of the goody packages I sent to my Twi Sisters included handmade cards with their names on them.  Here are a few pics of the cards.  On other Twilight news, number of times I’ve seen Eclipse as of this morning = 22! =)  I sooooo can’t wait until the Eclipse DVD release party.  Not sure if Hot Topic will have one as they didn’t for New Moon but FYE was a great substitute.

I really love these stair step cards.  I’m developing a Halloween card class for work that will use this card type.  Come back later to see the finished sample. =)

~ Blizzard Wall Art

I guess the one good thing about being snowed-in is that you have plenty of time to watch movies, cook, bake and make crafts.  My daughter has been doing the baking while I’ve been cooking and crafting.

Here is a project that uses an origami frame as a wall hanging instead of binding together into a book.  I used an untraditional scrapbooking item for the project — comic book backing boards — as the base of my project.  Why not?  They’re light chipboard and acid-free.

If you’d like the instructions on how to make the origami frame, go to the bottom of this post.  Please let me know if you use the instructions and make a project of your own.

Click here for a PDF of how to make the origami frame.

Stuff:  Zutter – 1/2″ white o-wire; My Mind’s Eye – patterned paper, adhesive chipboard shapes, stickers; Stampin’ Up – grosgrain ribbon; We R Memory Keepers – extra large eyelets; Dymo – labels; light chipboard, satin ribbon

~ Candy, anyone?

Lucky family, we were all off an extra day due to the heavy snow this past weekend.  So, what did I do with my stolen day?  I made Valentine’s Day candy bags for my son’s class, hubby’s co-workers and my co-workers.  Not sure when my kids will go back to class considering the state of our roads today but I suspect the Federal Government will make us all go back in tomorrow.  Darn but that’s okay, it’ll give me a chance to pass out my treats.  The fancier treatment was for Brian’s co-workers since there are only the four of them.  Jacob’s 30 are standard classroom and my 24 are small but sweet.  I didn’t personalize my office treats because of the volume.  Toppers for treat bags are a great way to use up bits of patterned paper.

~ BIA Love Minibook RAK

It’s almost Valentine’s Day.  Do you know what I love best around this time of year scrap-wise?  I love all the hearts and the sweet kiddie valentines.  What is your favorite thing about Valentine’s Day?  Leave me a post for a chance to win this very book!

For this project, instead of using cardstock or chipboard pages, I used mini file folders I found at Paper Source last year.  I held on to them until I figured out what project I would use them on.  They were perfect with this paper collection.

Stuff:  Zutter – 1″ white o-wire; Teresa Collins – chipboard bracket covers; Cloud9 – paper collection, stickers, brads, chipboard stickers, epoxy stickers, tag, ribbon, Stampin’ Up – ribbon

~ Valentine’s Day Card Class

Here’s my latest project for a card class that I will be teaching at work sometime in the next few weeks.  I used both Fiskars and Martha Stewart tools for shapecutting and border punching.  I found the Martha Stewart punches a little tough on the hands as they need a little more pressure for both the border punching and the lattice heart shapes.  I don’t recommend them if you have weak or smaller hands.

Stuff:  Basic Grey – patterned paper, cardstock stickers; Stampin’ Up! – flower, brad; shiny cardstock, rickrack

~ Photo Collage Holiday Cards

I was busy this weekend!  I finished 50 handmade photo cards.  Another 20 or so to go.  Usually we opt for a family newsletter each year but we decided we’d go with cards for a change, much less work (for my hubby anyway) than writing a whole newsletter of blah, blah, blah…

Twilight news – The family made a short stop at the mall today to drop of the “Team Paul” bracelet to one of our fave people at Hot Topic.  She gushed over the bracelet like it was the best thing she’s gotten.  I’m glad it made her happy! =)  See post below this one to see the bracelets I made this past week.  On the topic of Twilight-New Moon, my obsession has grown into viewing the movie 11 times now.  {{{Diehard Twi-fan.}}}
